Belgium has long been recognized as a hub of pharmaceutical and biotechnology excellence in Europe. Home to world-class research universities, a sophisticated regulatory environment, and a thriving life sciences ecosystem, Belgium offers an ideal environment for the development and commercialization of innovative biological therapeutics. BioNatura Therapeutics NV is proud to be part of this vibrant scientific community — and to be contributing to Belgium’s growing reputation as a global leader in biotech innovation.
VitaStem™: Advancing Stem Cell Research in Europe
BioNatura’s latest product launch — the VitaStem™ Laboratory Culture Kit — represents a significant milestone in our commitment to supporting European stem cell research. Developed over three years in partnership with leading academic stem cell biology laboratories, VitaStem™ provides a fully defined, xeno-free culture system that supports the long-term maintenance and directed differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells.
The xeno-free formulation of VitaStem™ addresses a critical bottleneck in the clinical translation of stem cell therapies: the elimination of animal-derived components that can introduce safety risks and regulatory complications in human therapeutic applications. Early adopters of VitaStem™ have reported exceptional performance in maintaining stem cell pluripotency over extended culture periods, with lot-to-lot consistency that has impressed even the most demanding research groups.
PhytoPure™ Expands to Cover 200+ Plant Compounds
In response to strong demand from the European research community, BioNatura has significantly expanded the PhytoPure™ Research Reagents catalog to include over 200 plant-derived reference standards and bioactive compounds. This expansion encompasses major pharmacological categories including alkaloids from medicinal plants, terpenoids with anti-inflammatory properties, polyphenolic antioxidants, and novel glycoside compounds identified through our proprietary genomic discovery platform.
All PhytoPure™ compounds are manufactured under GMP-compliant conditions with rigorous identity, purity, and stability testing. Each compound is supplied with a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis and full spectroscopic characterization data, enabling researchers to trust their experimental results from the first use.
BioNatura Joins the Belgian Biotech Association’s Sustainability Working Group
BioNatura Therapeutics NV has been invited to join the Belgian Biotech Association’s newly formed Sustainability Working Group — a cross-industry initiative aimed at developing sector-wide standards for environmental performance reporting, sustainable procurement, and green laboratory practices.
As a founding member of this working group, BioNatura will contribute practical expertise gained from our own sustainability transformation journey, including our transition to 100% renewable energy, the implementation of our solvent recycling program, and the development of our sustainable botanical sourcing policies. We believe that sustainability leadership is not just a corporate responsibility — it is a strategic advantage in an industry where stakeholder expectations around environmental performance are rising rapidly.
Partnership with the University of Ghent: Advancing Natural Product Drug Discovery
BioNatura is pleased to announce the signing of a three-year collaborative research agreement with the Department of Pharmacognosy at the University of Ghent. This partnership will focus on the application of advanced metabolomics and network pharmacology to identify novel bioactive compounds from Belgian and Central African medicinal plant species with potential activity against drug-resistant bacterial infections.
The collaboration will leverage BioNatura’s BioExtract™ extraction platform and analytical infrastructure alongside Ghent University’s world-leading expertise in natural product chemistry and pharmacological screening. We anticipate that this partnership will generate exciting new candidates for our drug discovery pipeline while producing high-impact scientific publications that advance the global field of natural product medicine.
